Mrs Roper Romp - A great success

The First Annual Mrs. Roper Romp

The Cowichan Valley Women’s Collective (CVWC) hosted its inaugural event, the Mrs. Roper Romp, at the Duncan Curling Club Sept 20, 2025 — and over 90 participants turned up in colorful caftans, bold prints, and retro flair to channel their inner Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company.

The afternoon featured 1970s trivia, a costume parade, a TV theme-song sing-off, and plenty of laughter. Even the Curling Club joined in by serving themed cocktails.

Thanks go to those who made the event possible: Maggie and Christine for their planning support, Fif for stepping in last minute to welcome guests and run the 50/50 draw, and Sharon and the Curling Club team for hosting with energy and creativity.

Local businesses also played a big role: HighPoint Bookkeeping, Andrea with Willow and Orchid Florists, Emily with Laine Vintage, Adrienne with Hungry Bubbas Food Truck, Kyle with Anywhere Ice Cream, Liz with Copycat Print & Design Ltd., and Tyler with Empty Orchestra Events.

The 50/50 raised over $600, with half donated to the Vancouver Island Crisis Line in recognition of Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.

The Mrs. Roper Romp is just the beginning — CVWC will continue creating spaces that are safe, silly, and supportive, with more events already in the works.

Thank you to all who came out!
